History

Explore MK Test Systems’ journey – from our founding in 1990 to becoming a global provider of electrical testing solutions, trusted by leading aerospace and defence organisations.

Early Foundations (1990–2002)

MK Test Systems was founded in 1990, with Rolls-Royce as one of our earliest customers – not a bad way to start!

Two years later, we officially became an incorporated Limited company, and things really started to take off. By the mid-90s, we were delivering some pretty sizeable projects, including a 19,426 test point system for Matra Marconi’s satellite testing.

In 2002, we reached a key milestone with our 750th system going to Lufthansa Technik, while Thales Underwater Systems received our first ever Automeg Portable. Westland Helicopters also got in on the action, with a distributed system for their EH101 programme.

Safe to say, we were keeping busy.

Growing up and going global (2003-2015)

The early 2000s were all about building on that early momentum.

We launched our Gen2 Windows-based software (yes, we’re old enough to remember Windows 2000), and introduced the BLTU in 2010. Then in 2014, with the backing of Synova Capital, we kicked off a new phase of growth.

A year later, we crossed the pond with MK Test Systems Americas, proving that automated electrical testing solutions could travel well.

A new chapter with Halma (2024-Present)

In 2024, MK Test Systems joined Halma Plc – a global group of purpose-driven technology companies.

It’s an exciting step, bringing new opportunities while staying true to what we do best: making world-class test systems and probably drinking too much tea in the process.
