NPD roadmap
Our NPD team are currently working on several exciting new projects, some of which are still classified. Here are the ones we are allowed to talk about:
Combined fibre copper testing
More systems are making use of hybrid cables and connectors, where copper and fibre are combined in a single cable assembly. Requirement is growing for a automatic test system with both electrical and optical test capability.
We're working on a system that combines the two functions in a single, compact COTS test system controlled by our MKAT software.

Automeg 4.0 - New generation hardware
We’re excited to say the next generation of wire & cable harness test system is in development.
Drawing on 30 years of ATE experience, our next gen systems will be more compact, offer greater testing functionality.
The new system will also be modular and flexible to ensure it can be configured to suit your specific testing demands.

New BLTU-4C and BLRT-4C models
Introducing the 4C models; the next generation in our family of automatic bond, loop and joint testers.
BLRT-4C and BLTU-4C are both in the final stages of development, and are due to reach the market later this year.
The new models will be smaller, whilst achieving the same measurements.
Legacy test programs will be convertible for the new -4C models, so your historical data can be used.

Our NPD wins industry awards.
Several of our products and development projects have won awards across several industries for their innovative approach to test and measurement.
The APG toolset within MKAT software was awarded recognition by BAE Systems' F35 project team for reducing their test program generation time from a forecasted 4 months to less than 1 hour.
Recent awards include RTS for 'Test Product of the Year' at the Elektra Awards, and a silver E&T Innovation Award in the 'Most Innovative Project for the Future of Manufacturing' category. MK Test themselves also won the AeroTech award at the 2022 Tech South West awards.
We're currently shortlisted for ExLRT in the Test and Measurement Product of the Year at the Instrumentation Excellence Awards 2024 - wish us luck!

Rate our innovation to help us develop.
We pride ourselves on our focus on innovation, and strive to be market-leading on NPD in the electrical test and measurement sector.
Please help us gauge how we're doing by taking part in a quick 1-question survey, to rate our innovation out of 5. It'll take less than 30 seconds and will help us improve - thank you in advance!
We engineer some opportunities to have fun too!
It goes without saying that we take our work seriously, but occasionally the NPD lab is used for some fun stuff too. Like the time we tested the resistance of biscuit varieties (yes, that happened), or when we made a little face for our RTS calibration tool as it looked so gnome-like...
Recently, we made 'The Probocop' to avoid having to manually test the BLTU-4C for 70 hours. You can learn more about that one here.
