RTS

The game-changer.

A miniaturised modular test system, RTS ® (Real Time Scanner) uses minimal interface cables to check wiring during installation for instant test results.

Instant testing, 90% fewer interface cables.

RTS uses micro switching technology to enable you to test wire assemblies in real time. It also reduces the need for high cost interface cables by around 90%.

A best-in-class solution for aircraft and train FAL testing, the system also offers many benefits for wire harness and sub-assembly manufacturers. Suitable applications include formboard harness testing, installed harness test in the unit under test, and high pin count, high connector count assemblies.

How RTS helps you achieve real time savings:

Miniature design

A combination of modern electronics, low profile components and a robust plastic enclosure means minimal interface wiring to your product under test.

A miniaturized test system means reduced footprint, simpler storage, reduced handling effort, rapid deployment, and less interruption to other work packages during the test phase.

Magnetic connectors

The satellite modules are linked to the umbilical by the unique magnetic MAG connector. Designed in-house by our NPD team, the MAG enables simple and rapid hookup, rapid disconnect, and a faster overall test phase.

Magnetic polarisation lets the operator “feel” the correct orientation of the connector even without line of sight.  Quick disconnection protects from accidental damage if the module or interface wiring is pulled on by mistake.

Advanced technology

RTS uses a low voltage, ultra-fast settling, constant current source and a high speed voltmeter to achieve sub-millisecond measurement times.

Combined with the latest technology in high speed solid-state switches means the system takes continuous measurements, scanning over the whole Unit Under Test (UUT) repeatedly and presenting real-time data to MKAT software.

This unique combination of super high-speed technologies means our customers are reporting more than 30% reduction in overall testing time.

Full colour indicators

Each connector is fitted with a full colour RGB indicator. This adds to the real-time feedback by visually showing the state of each connection, so operators can identify fault locations and fix them immediately.

The configurable LED indicators guide the operator to specific fault locations faster, providing clearer fault diagnostics and reduced testing time.

Reduced footprint & handling

The unique miniaturised switching modules mean a reduced storage and deployment footprint.

They fit into small spaces to connect directly to each harness connector with no need for long interface cables from rack-based systems.   Adaptor cables are typically 20cm in length, compared to traditional interface cables of 5m to 10m.

The RTS system also eliminates health and safety concerns related to moving traditional heavy rack systems.

Easy-to-use test management software

RTS is powered by MKAT test management software, rated 'easy to use' by 87% of our customers.

The interface displays the real time data to the operator, with easy search and filtering options.

Multiple operators can simultaneously view reports specific to their section of the test product, for faster and more efficient testing.

Our Active xRef technology means the system adapts automatically, so incorrect connections cannot be made.

“RTS is an innovative solution compared to traditional wiring testers. It allows workload reduction by fast set-up and fast testing.”

Olivier Boizot, Project Leader

Airbus

Your test setup with 90% fewer interface cables. Imagine that.

Remove the headache of cable maintenance and testing hook-up time.  A typical rack-based test system can require up to 170km of interface cables for a full aircraft test.  RTS eliminates this burden by using miniature switching modules that fit inside the unit under test.

The result?  There are now only typically 8 umbilical cables for a full aircraft test system.

Low current, low voltage = high efficiencies.

The miniaturized, lightweight format of the RTS system combined with the low current and low voltage measurement signal means that harness assembly and testing can be carried out simultaneously.

This feature is especially useful when it enables large assemblies such as aircraft and trains to be tested during the installation and equipping phase – eliminating the test stage and offering great production efficiency gains.
